WELCOME TO JACOB

Seaford C C are pleased to welcome Jacob Thompson to the Club as our oversea's player for the 2008 season. 18 year old Jacob is a right hand batsman from Australia.  He currently plays for the Gold Coast Dolphins Cricket Club in Queensland.

Whilst here Jacob is looking to develop his skills and extend his experience playing in English conditions.

We wish Jacob all the best.

Good start for the 1st XI (03/05/08)
The 1st XI kicked off their new County League season in a fine way as they enjoyed a comfortable 6 wicket win at home to Crawley.  Crawley 179 all out Seaford 180 for 4. Match report.

2nd XI wash out (03/05/08)
The 2nd XI's first league match is cancelled due to a waterlogged Crawley pitch. A great shame as the weather was great and lads were up and ready for it.

Sunday XI (26/04/08)
The first Sunday friendly against Keymer & Hassock fell foul of heavy rain before the start resulting in the match being cancelled.

Inter club match (19/04/08)
This 40 overs aside practise match saw Pinks XI bowled out for 149 in 36.3 overs.  Mainstay of the innings was a classy 89 by young Aussie Jacob Thompson, who adapted well to English conditions. Stuart Pulford bowled some good lines and lengths to be rewarded with 4-13.  Jon Pitts & Adam Kneller both took two wickets.

In reply Studsy's XI were never up with the pace in the face of some tight opening bowling from Pete Coplestone (1-15) and Paddy Smith (2-6).  Chris Stanyard held the batting together with 42 plus support from Darren Moore 27no.  Graham Baker ripped out the middle order with 3-44.  A wicket each for Tom Pitts and Simon Pitts saw Studsy's XI finish on 136 for 9.

The day off very well with most of the intended jobs being completed.  Just a bit more paving to be finished off before the season starts.

A big thank you to all those who turned up and worked really hard.  Without your help the day would not have happened. Thanks also to the guys from Sussex County Cricket Club, including players Tom Smith & Matt Prior.

Annual General Meeting 2007
There was a reasonable turn out for this years AGM, held at The Plough Inn.  Chair, Clive Chipper, presided over the evenings agenda items, including the Election of Officers.  These were swiftly dealt with and the meeting closed in record time.  Everyone then adjourned to the bar.

Thanks was given to departing Committee members Helen Stallard, Paul Mason, Geoff Beal, Tim Goddard & Graham Baker plus welcomes to newly elected members, Fixtures Secretary: Stuart Pulford, Club Deveolpment Manager (a new post ): Phil Court & Cricket Manager (a new post): Kevin Moore.

The team captains, except the Sunday Captain, were all re elected as per 2007.  Sat 1st XI: Colin Wells, Sat 2nd XI: Paddy Smith, Sat 3rd XI: Richard Cummins & Sat 4th XI: Simon Pitts.  There were no volunteers for the Sunday Captain.  Any takers should contact the Club Secretary Phil Lovesay.

This years membership fees will see a slight increase.  Full Adult Member: £50.00, Family Membership: £60.00, Junior Member (Under 18): £20.00 & Social Member: £5.00.

Groundsman needed
The Club could do with someone available during the day, especially mornings, who is physically quite fit, has an interest in producing good pitches and does not expect instant results.

It would be particularly helpful to have someone available during the winter to go down around 3 times a week to brush the square, check the rope and make sure there is no damage anywhere.

If your interested and can spare the time contact Geoff Beal on gjbeal@tiscali.co.uk
